Carlton Riley Smith

Carlton Riley Smith is the Associate Online Editor at Southern Living. He writes and says nice things like this:

“A person doesn’t have to live in the South to want to share good food with friends at the end of a warm day when the breeze is just right or to bask in the rewarding afterglow of a hard day’s work in the garden. Southerners didn’t invent these sorts of simple pleasures – we just refined them.”

Carl Nicholas Karcher

Carl Karcher is so awesome not only is he named Carl, but the burger chain he founded is also named Carl. Looks curiously a lot like Hardees.

Karl E. Steinbrenner

Karl Steinbrenner is a local photographer who takes awesome photos. Here he is (left) fighting a good looking guy (right). Also, check out his website.

Carl Brutananadilewski

Carl B. is a character on Aqua Teen Hunger Force, whatever that is. He is the Force's creepy, gross, middle age neighbor in a wife-beater. According to wikipedia this Hunger Force does mean things to him. So out of sympathy, Carl B. is on the Carl Blog.

Karl Marx

The wrongest of all C(K)arls, he thought that capitalism was flawed, made people poor, and would not last. I like to think that if he had been around for the last century he might have changed his opinion. (See the Fed Chief's praise of what market forces have done for China's poor.) But because his influence on world events has made him a well known C(K)arl, Karl Marx has earned his place on the Carl Blog.

Carlos Solis

Okay, so he's not a real person, but he's still cool. Carlos Solis is the hot Latino not-so-great all the time husband of Eva Longoria on Desperate Housewives. Nice goatee, Carl . . . os.

Carl Maria von Weber

Carl Maria von Weber was a German composer who greatly influenced the development of Romantic opera in Germany. He was born in 1786 and was only 40 when he died in London of tuberculosis. I'm not sure why he is named Maria, but the name must be German for "is a sweet name." Get it? Carl is a sweet name von Weber.

Carl Blog fans

Carl Blog fans are awesome. Yep, all zero of you.

Carlsbad Caverns

The Carlsbad Caverns are a whole bunch of pretty caves in New Mexico. Kinda makes you wonder why they didn't call them Carlsgood Caverns.

Prince Carl Jr.

Prince Carl Jr. got his awesome name from his dad, Prince Carl (see previous post). His mom wanted to name him Samuel. Score one for Prince Carl, he didn't get to be king by the way, zero for Carl haters.

Prince Carl of Sweden and Norway

According to Wikipedia Prince Carl just missed being king of Norway when they tried to win independence from Sweden. Apparently he had a son named, appropriately, Prince Carl Jr. (more to follow). And if you think being a prince named Carl is the height of coolness, well you must not have yet checked the 'stach.

Carl Lewis

Carl Lewis was a track star who won 10 Olympic metals and 10 World Championship metals. That's pretty cool.
